Creamy Espresso Martini

Vodka · Shaken Chilled coupe
Two espresso martinis with thick foam on a marble counter in a candlelit room

The after-dinner drink that keeps the night going. The foam is everything, and the foam comes from fresh espresso and a genuinely hard shake.

How it goes
  1. Pull the espresso first and let it cool for a few minutes while you chill the coupe.
  2. Shake everything hard with ice for a full 15 to 20 seconds. Harder and longer than feels reasonable. That is where the foam comes from.
  3. Strain into the chilled coupe and let the foam settle for a moment.
  4. Float the coffee beans on the foam and finish with chocolate or cocoa.

Make it yours

  • The Pear & Thyme twist: swap the simple syrup for the marshmallow coffee syrup from The Café.
  • Decaf espresso works, and nobody at a late table will complain.

Between us

Cold, fresh, hard shake. Those three words are the entire recipe.

Enjoy your thyme.

When the season turns, I write you a letter.

One short note when the menu changes: what’s ripe, what I’m cooking, and a few things worth gathering people around. Nothing else.
